  • shutterstock_105820772Having grown up in a logging camp in Rural Alaska, I remember what it was like when we had to “go to town” to conduct business, whether it was to see the lawyer, banker, doctor or boat motor repair shop.

Conducting business from “bush” Alaska is still a challenge, but telephone and email technology has greatly improved communications.  Though face-to-face meetings with clients are preferable, more and more frequently I handle legal matters without that face-to-face meeting – just the telephone and email.

Though I hope technology never “replaces” the person-to-person connection between lawyers and clients, because this is a “people business”, I am thankful for modern communication tools which make it faster and less expensive to represent clients wherever they are.

The above article was written by Mr. Dennis and originally appeared in the Alaska Journal of Commerce.
