  • Alaska’s beauty and wilderness is a great attraction to people from all over the world. There are a wide variety of adventures available to tourists visiting the Last Frontier. Unfortunately, every year a small percentage of visitors experience mis-adventures which lead to serious injuries or death. Over the last 35 years I have helped many tourists and their families through the difficulties associated with Alaska mis-adventures. Previously I have written about the challenges tour bus passengers face when the “tour of a lifetime” does not go as planned. Similar disappointments can face all adventurers seeking to enjoy the great state of Alaska.

Over the years I have been involved in a wide variety of cases in which tourists have suffered severe injuries or worse. My clients have included victims of boating accidents, airplane crashes, motorhome, automobile and motorcycle collisions and even mishaps aboard the Alaska Railroad. Each case, like the individuals involved, is unique. What is not unique, however, is Alaska’s limited transportation routes, limited means of providing emergency medical treatment and transportation to the limited medical facilities. Many of my injured clients have undergone similar experiences. Consequently, I have developed experience in helping injured tourists and their families who are or have been in crisis a long way from home as they navigate the medical, insurance and legal systems in Alaska.

In my next series of articles I’ll be talking about some of the cases I’ve seen, and the various ways our Alaskan visitors have suffered from these accidents. I’ll also talk about the importance of an experienced local Alaskan attorney in cases like these..
