OSHA Compliance in the Workplace
When we go to work, we want to be sure we are safe. This is why OSHA, Occupational Safety and Health Act, exists. Employers are required to follow the OSHA guidelines to provide a safe and healthy workplace environment. This includes using safer chemicals, storing and marking them correctly and providing required safety equipment.
Here are some other examples of employer responsibility to maintain OSHA Compliance:
- Label or otherwise mark potential hazards as well as provide adequate training regarding said potential hazards.
- Post OSHA citiations, posters and injury/illness data as well as record work-related injuries and illnesses.
- Preform OSHA required tests in the workplace.
- Provide OSHA required medical tests.
If you feel that your place of employment is not keeping up to the OSHA standards, you can have OSHA inspect your workplace. You can file a compliant here.
