Last week, a woman was injured by a vehicle as she was crossing the street on foot. The vehicle that struck her had taken off after the accident.
On Saturday October 13, 2012, a fifty year old woman was attempting to cross Glacier Highway when she was struck by a blue SUV. The SUV took off immediately afterwards.
Later that day, Juneau police officers had found the vehicle, which witnesses say was being driven by a woman, about 20 minutes away from the scene of the accident. There was no one accompanying the vehicle. At around the same time the vehicle was found, the owners called the police department to report the vehicle as stolen.
The fifty year old woman that was struck by the SUV was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. She suffered minor injuries and was later released.
