  • A bicyclist and an SUV collided on September 29, 2012 in Fairbanks, Alaska. The accident left the bicyclist paralyzed.

The man riding the bicycle’s name is undisclosed, but officials said that he was an elderly man in his sixties. As the man rode his bicycle north on the Old Steese Highway, an SUV was turning onto the highway from Northgate Square. The SUV struck the bicyclist. The impact threw the bicyclist from his bike. The driver of the SUV was uninjured. As for the bicyclist, he was transported to two different hospitals for treatment. He was paralyzed in both of his arms and legs.

Even though the bicyclist involved in the accident was wearing a helmet, he still sustained life altering injuries. This could bring about extra costs of living just to deal with his newfound injuries.

Officials have yet to charge anyone in the accident, but in most accident cases the driver of the vehicle involved tends to be the one at fault. As a bicyclist, if you ever suffer injury in an accident, contact an Anchorage accident attorney for legal representation and aid. They will investigate the accident and help you seek compensation for your injuries.
