  • Last Friday, June 8, 2012 three men, Keith Hediger, Adam Hediger, and Mike Cuffe were rescued by Jack Porter when the boat they were on flipped over due to the 4-6 foot waves. Porter, who was on his way from Anchorage to Homer to pick up his sister, noticed the men on the boat working in the rough waves. Porter knew he must be on the lookout, making sure nothing happened to the men.

As Porter’s suspicions grew true, he looked behind him to check on the men once more and had noticed the boat flipped over. He made his way over to them and was able to save all three men. The three Alaskan Fishermen were in the water for roughly 30 minutes. They suffered from Hypothermia. Adam Hediger also had irregular heartbeats and Keith Hediger had injured his shoulder.

Boating accidents are quite common in the Alaskan waters, especially because it such a popular thing to do in Alaska. Although the Hedigers’ boat had flipped because of the lively waves, some boating accidents happen due to poor maintenance of the boat, a careless person operating the boat, or another boat may collide into them. If you ever find yourself the victim in a boating accident, call an Anchorage Alaska accident attorney for legal assistance, you may be entitled to compensation.
