    Drunk Driving
With summer recess, vacation, and nice weather, more people are out on the roads. This means an increase of drunk drivers on the road. If you have had a few to drink and are thinking of driving, think again. There are multiple designated driving services that will drive you and your vehicle home safely! Any taxi will be much more affordable than the hefty fines and jail time resulting from drunk driving.

    Construction
When it’s not winter in Alaska, it’s construction season. That means backed up traffic and construction workers on the road. Fatalities in construction and maintenance work zones averaged 669 from 2007 to 2012, according to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. So slow down and be aware of your surroundings. Making it to work on time is not worth endangering your life and others.

    Drivers on Vacation
Everyone is driving to the best fishing destinations, which is usually along the Seward Highway toward popular towns such as Seward, Kenai, and Homer. Many are familiar with traffic in this area and know it can become backlogged fast along the highway, making for difficult conditions, road rage, and poor decisions trying to pass. Never pass unless you are in a passing zone, the road ahead is straight, and you are positive there is nobody coming in the opposite direction. Always plan ahead and be aware of your surroundings.

Remember, the best type of driver is a defensive driver; always being cautious and on the lookout. Be safe this summer my friends, and if you have any questions or have received a serious injury in an automobile related incident, give us a call today at 907-929-4890.
