  • A 12 year old Anchorage boy was involved in a bicycle accident last Thursday and remains in critical condition. The hospital says the boy is in a critical yet stable condition.

Thomas Vinson was riding his bicycle through the Muldoon intersection when he was struck by an SUV. The 2006 Jeep Commander was driven by 24 year old Meleanna Siulua-Butler, also of Anchorage, Alaska.

Siulua-Butler has not been charged for the accident. It is still under investigation as of yet. It was also stated in police reports that Vinson wasn’t wearing a helmet, which is required before the age of 16 years old by law.

Seeing as Vinson wasn’t wearing a helmet, he is lucky to have survived the accident. Although he is in critical condition, he remains stable. This accident is a reminder to all children under the age of 16 years old, that a helmet should be worn at all times when riding a bicycle. A helmet could help protect them from serious injury and even death.

If you have a child that has been involved in an accident while riding their bicycle, call an Anchorage accident attorney for representation.
