A two vehicle accident happened on the Sterling Highway last Friday that left three injured and one elderly man dead.
A little after noon on Friday, eighty two year old Ruby Gonzales and eighty five year old Daniel Gonzales were traveling north on the Sterling Highway in their Jeep Cherokee when Ruby lost control of the vehicle. The Jeep then slid into the other lane and smacked into a Dodge truck.
Daniel Gonzales was thrown out of the back window of the Jeep and was pronounced dead upon officials’ arrival. Ruby Gonzales was sent to the hospital for treatment of injuries as well as fifty year old Vincent and his seventy two year old mother, Constance Redford who were in the Dodge truck that Ruby collided with.
Alcohol was not believed to have partaken in the cause of the accident. The road conditions were icy and the Gonzales’ were on a hill at the time they lost control of the Jeep.
