While you are out and about on your bike this upcoming fall season, fun is always what you are looking for. A good enjoyable ride that makes you smile and remember why you decided to get a bike in the first place. There are also a few other things to keep in mind with the season change.
Braking Performance –
Fall weather brings cooler temperatures and wet weather. Not to mention the possibility of leaves and summer shrubbery dying off and blowing into the road ways. This can cause slippery conditions and you will need to adjust your braking techniques to avoid accident. A lighter hand is recommended, and braking sooner also helps.
Big Picture Riding –
Don’t focus on one thing ahead. Keep your eyes open for the panoramic view. Surveying the area around you will keep you on the defensive and able to react sooner than later. This is a great tip to keep in mind no matter what you are doing, but especially with the days getting shorts and darker. How you look out for things will need to adjust.
Road Conditions –
Tire pressure, how your suspension reacts, and how you position yourself in maneuvers all will need to adjust. The weather and road conditions will change things, just as it would with a car or truck. Take some time to walk around your bike and check all the different components that could potentially be affected.
When it comes to riding you want to get on it and go. Being conscious of the way your bike handles in all scenarios of weather will help to ensure that you get the most enjoyable fall riding experience.
